CONCERTS IN LABOULE IN JUNE 2025

Every year, the "Rénovation Église de Laboule" association organizes beautiful concerts throughout the summer season. With a rich and varied palette, from baroque, classical, folk, jazzy, and flamenco, you'll be delighted!

This year, a new addition will be making its appearance: the spinet, a small, sweet-voiced harpsichord, acquired through the generosity of Sabine and Bernard's friends. It will resonate alone under the fingers of Vincent Demeester.

Admission is free and after each concert there is a friendship drink offered by the association and small appetizers offered by volunteers.

We greatly appreciate your presence and invite you to enjoy the extensive concert program with Les amis de l'Église de Laboule. Each concert begins at 6:00 p.m.

Saturday, June 7 - Female vocal ensemble LES BOUCHES ROUGES

Saturday, June 14 - Guitar Recital: Benoit Dettori

Wednesday, June 25 - 300th anniversary of the spiritual concert by the ensemble Baroque of Laboule

Saturday, June 28 - Cello-piano duo; Brahms, Schumann, Beethoven, Steva Tovstukha and Florian Bollot

Would you like to stay with us? Rinell will be happy to accompany you to these wonderful concerts.

See you soon,

Rinell and Eric

ANSELM KIEFER ARTIST WORK "LA RIBAUTE" IN BARJAC

ANSELM KIEFER ARTIST

Among contemporary artists, Anselm Kiefer enjoys a special status. Rarely criticized, even by the most resolute opponents of art as it appears today in cultural institutions and on the market. Received with the respect due to those who appear to possess superior knowledge. Admired for his courage in confronting the demons of post-World War II Germany.

With Kiefer, everything is enormous: the demonstrative meaning of his works which mix myths and wisdoms, their number, their dimensions, the means he uses in playing with materials (ashes, lead, sand, concrete, plants and paint in the most traditional sense of the term). He is a man who does not hesitate to literally move mountains, as he did around his residence in the south of France in Barjac, digging into the hills and building towers.

ABOUT KIEFER

Anselm Kiefer (1945, Donaueschingen, Germany) was born a few months before the end of World War II. In the late 1960s, Kiefer was one of the first German artists to address his country's troubled history in monumental and confrontational works, which initially met with considerable criticism in his homeland. In the Netherlands, his work was recognized early on by collectors and museums such as the Stedelijk Museum . Kiefer would later be praised for breaking the silence surrounding Germany's past. His work explores themes such as history, mythology, philosophy, literature, alchemy, and landscape.

LA RIBAUTE, FORMER WORKSHOP-RESIDENCE OF ANSELM KIEFER IN BARJAC, FRANCE, 1 HOUR FROM THE EXPERIENCE BED AND BREAKFAST

Over the course of his career, Anselm Kiefer lived and worked in various studios in Germany, France, Austria, Portugal, and the United States. Anselm Kiefer's studios represent and bring together significant periods of his life and work. Some of these studios have evolved over time to become immersive environments, bringing together all aspects of his artistic practice. La Ribaute, Kiefer's studio-residence in Barjac, France, located 70 kilometers northwest of Avignon, was the epicenter of his creative work from 1992 to 2007. Over the past three decades, the artist has continued to develop La Ribaute, which currently spans forty hectares and consists of over 90 art spaces connected by a complex network of pathways, tunnels, and underground crypts.

La Ribaute, one of the most intriguing and complex art spaces of our time, offers a wide-ranging representation of Kiefer's work across various media. The Eschaton-Anselm Kiefer Foundation's mission is to make La Ribaute accessible to visitors worldwide while preserving it for posterity as an extraordinary manifestation of human creativity.

La Ribaute, which was received by the Eschaton-Fondation Anselm Kiefer as a donation from the artist in December 2020, will open to the public seasonally starting in 2022. All visits take the form of guided tours booked in advance online. For more details on visiting La Ribaute and to book a tour, click here.

AND AT THE SAME TIME IN HOLLAND ............

For the first time in their history, the Van Gogh Museum and the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam are joining forces for a major exhibition dedicated to one of the most important artists of our time: Anselm Kiefer.

  • Exposure
Anselm Kiefer - Sag mir wo die Blumen sind

  • March 7 to June 9, 2025

See me where the flowers are

The title of the exhibition, Sag mir wo die Blumen sind, refers to the anti-war song of the same name by American folk singer and activist Pete Seeger. Later, this song became widely known in a German, English, and French translation by Marlene Dietrich. The title also refers to a new large-scale spatial work by Anselm Kiefer that will be exhibited at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, as well as Vincent van Gogh's Sunflowers.

Book your room at L'Xpérience B&B. La Ribaute is an hour away from us, and it's a beautiful drive to get there!
